# Example builds

> Four step-by-step walkthroughs a non-engineer can follow: what to type, and what you'll see at each stage.

Source: https://tryspeed.ai/docs/examples

Each walkthrough starts from [the Speed prompt](https://tryspeed.ai/docs/prompt.md). You paste it, type a one-sentence brief, and watch the design build in your Speed tab. Then you try three follow-ups: an FEA run, a part swap with a before-and-after comparison, and the one-pager.

- [6-inch long-range quad](https://tryspeed.ai/docs/examples/long-range-quad.md): A quadcopter with real catalogue motors, props and battery, sized for endurance.
- [Counter-drone detection mast](https://tryspeed.ai/docs/examples/drone-detection-mast.md): A mast that detects and locates small drones, with solar power and a battery.
- [Two-axis EO/IR gimbal](https://tryspeed.ai/docs/examples/eoir-gimbal.md): A pan-tilt gimbal for a day camera and a thermal core on a vehicle mast.
- [Sky-scanning optical sensor](https://tryspeed.ai/docs/examples/sky-sensor.md): A ground telescope with a 1.55 m primary mirror on an alt-azimuth mount.

## How long it takes

On claude.ai, a first build typically takes 2 to 5 minutes: about 2 minutes for the detection mast, about 5 for the 1.55 m sky sensor. Each follow-up typically takes 1 to 3 minutes.

## How to read the walkthroughs

- **Type this** blocks are exactly what you send. Each has a Copy button.
- **What you'll see** describes the Speed tab and the chat. The Agent panel in Speed shows one step for every tool call, so you can follow along there too.
- Claude may do the stages in a slightly different order, or start from one of Speed's ready-made products and adapt it. Both are fine.

> **Note:** Your numbers will differ from anyone else's run, because Claude picks its own defaults and catalogue parts. What matters is that every assumption is listed. Change any of them by saying so.
