Speed docs
Speed (PKD 3D) is a browser CAD app for drones and defence hardware. Its MCP server lets your AI agent build and check models in your own PKD 3D tab. Machine-readable versions of these pages are at /llms.txt.
1. Quickstart
Copy this prompt into Claude Code or Codex. If Speed is not connected yet, the agent shows you the steps, then designs with you once you say done.
Connect Speed (PKD 3D) to this chat, then design me a product. Every message under four lines. No recaps.
FIRST — can you already see Speed's tools (status, new_design, execute, run_fea)?
YES → skip to VERIFY. NO → STEP 1.
STEP 1 — SHOW ME HOW TO CONNECT, THEN STOP
Read https://tryspeed.ai/docs/agent-setup.md. Find the section for the app you are running in and send me exactly its steps and commands, nothing before or after. End with: "Then restart, paste this prompt again and say done." Then wait. Never ask what is on my screen.
In a web chat (claude.ai, ChatGPT) say once: "Speed runs through Claude Code or Codex for now. Open one and paste this prompt there." Nothing more.
VERIFY — call status. Don't narrate it.
ok → "Connected." The PKD 3D tab opens by itself on the first build call.
Error → one line saying what failed and the exact command or click that fixes it.
FIRST DESIGN — ask exactly this, then wait:
What do you want to make?
1 Drone 2 Bracket or frame 3 Gimbal or payload 4 Something else
Then one numbered question at a time for the numbers that matter. Take sensible defaults and say them.
Before building: skill_reference {"skill":"solidcraft-modeling"}, inspect_design, then set_plan with every assumption.
Build in small batches. After each stage run run_physics_check and fix what fails, up to two rounds.
Swap placeholders for real parts with search_catalogue. Run run_fea and name every load and support you assumed.
Finish with export_design: the FEA one-pager PDF and the parts list. Give me the file paths.
Never call the design verified, certified or flight-ready. FEA is screening grade, for an engineer to review.
STYLE — one question at a time. Best guess over asking; I'll correct you.2. Connect your agent
A small local MCP server runs on your computer. It talks to your agent over stdio and to the PKD 3D tab over 127.0.0.1, guarded by a random token. You need Node 20 or newer and Chrome or Edge. No API key.
Early access: the plugin repository is private, so we add your GitHub account first. Ask for access.
Claude Code
- In a terminal, run the two commands below.
- Restart Claude Code.
- Paste the Speed prompt and say "done".
claude plugin marketplace add rajjobalia10/PKD-DEFENSE-4.0
claude plugin install pkd-defense-3d@pkd-toolsEarly access: the plugin repo is private, so we add your GitHub account first. Ask at tryspeed.ai/contact.
Codex
- Clone the plugin and add it as a marketplace, as below.
- Restart Codex.
- Paste the Speed prompt and say "done".
git clone https://github.com/rajjobalia10/PKD-DEFENSE-4.0 ~/speed-plugin
codex plugin marketplace add ~/speed-plugin
codex plugin add pkd-defense-3d@pkd-toolsInstalls and starts; a full build through Codex is not tested yet.
Cursor and other MCP clients
- Clone the plugin as for Codex.
- Add this server to your client's MCP settings (for Cursor: ~/.cursor/mcp.json).
- Reload the client, paste the Speed prompt and say "done".

}Any client that runs local (stdio) MCP servers should work. Replace ~ with your full home path if the client does not expand it.
Claude.ai and ChatGPT (web)
- Web chats need a hosted connector URL, which is coming. Use Claude Code or Codex for now.
3. Check the connection
Ask your agent to call status. A connected tab answers ok. If no tab is open, the agent calls open_app, or you open PKD 3D yourself. If Chrome asks to let PKD 3D reach apps on this device, click Allow.
4. MCP tools
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
status | Is the PKD 3D tab connected, and which design is open. |
open_app | Open PKD 3D in the browser; the tab connects by itself. |
skill_reference | Read the modelling rules: command shapes, plane axes and known traps. |
set_plan | Show the goal, approach, stages and assumptions in the Agent panel. |
new_design | Start an empty design (asks first if the open one has features). |
inspect_design | Parameters, timeline, bodies, sketches and checks of the open design. |
list_commands | The command catalogue with one-line parameter docs. |
describe_command | One command's full parameters and contract. |
execute | Run one modelling command, exactly as the toolbar does. |
batch | Run several commands in order, stopping at the first error. |
set_parameter | Create or change a user parameter and rebuild. |
check_parameters | Try parameter values without keeping them. |
measure | Volume, area, centre of mass and bounding box. |
body_topology | Edges and faces of a body, for exact picks. |
view_model | A picture of the model from any view. |
run_physics_check | Mass, thrust, hover time and every law, pass or fail. |
search_catalogue | Real motors, props, batteries, ESCs, bearings and fasteners. |
run_fea | Screening FEA on the real parts, with the loads and supports you name. |
clear_fea_paint | Remove FEA colours from the model. |
export_design | STEP, STL, DXF, PDF one-pager and parts list, saved to disk. |
undo | Undo the last change. |
redo | Redo the last undone change. |
5. Task prompts
Long-range quad
Build a 6-inch long-range quadcopter for 20 minute flights with real catalogue motors, props and a 4S battery. Group the subsystems, add callouts, run the physics check and draft the one-pager.Spray drone
Design a six-rotor agricultural spray drone with a 10 litre tank and 22 inch folding props. Size it for at least 8 minutes hover with a full tank, swap in real motors, run FEA for a 3 g hard landing and give me the one-pager.Motor mount bracket
Model an aluminium motor mount plate, 80 × 40 × 6 mm, with the bolt pattern of a real 2807 motor from the catalogue, R2 fillets and four M3 mounting holes. Check the volume against closed form and export STEP.EO/IR gimbal
Design a two-axis EO/IR gimbal for a 2 kg camera. Work out the tilt torque, pick real gimbal motors, model the yoke and housings, run modes and give me the parts list.Trade study
Give me three concepts for a 5 kg payload surveillance drone that differ in layout, not just size. Build each, run the physics check and compare mass, hover time and margin in one table. Recommend one.Benchmark a design
Inspect the open design, run the Benchmark against MIL-STD-810H heat, cold, vibration and shock, and tell me which part fails first and the smallest change that fixes it.6. For agents
- /llms.txt: the index of every page.
- /docs/agent-setup.md: how to connect, per client.
- /docs/prompt.md: the prompt and task prompts.
- /docs/mcp-tools.md: the tool reference.
Agent-built designs are concept models. They are not verified, certified or flight-ready, and FEA results are screening grade and need an engineer's review.
